i was excitedly checking the toronto international film festival website for the list of this year's midnight madness screenings. and i found out that DAINIPPONJIN is going to be screened... directed by comedy LEGEND Hitoshi Matsumoto (!!! the guy is sooo fucking hilarious).

so here's when i started to get pissed off at all things tiff-related.

i went to the box office section of the site cos i wanted to buy tickets for the screening before it's sold out. but the fucking website won't let me!! basically it looks like you HAVE to buy a PASS which costs a zillion dollars. you aren't allowed to purchase single tickets. WTF kinda messed up shit is that? goddamn... i miss going to the vancouver film fest... at least you could buy single tickets and they were super cheap too. even if you wanted to buy a pass for the whole festival it would only cost $200 at most.

stupid toronto.

so i guess i'm gonna have to chance it and line up in the rush tickets lineup the night of the film.

grrrr... so mad. =(

is anyone else going to the festival this year?

    <lj:music>belle & sebastian - jonathan david</lj:music>

here's whats been goin' down the last few days...

i just got over my cold/flu on friday, and then i got some kind of stomach virus or something and ended up hugging my toilet for most of the weekend. i talked to a doctor on saturday and he thinks it had to do with my daily diet of diet coke and cigarettes. pfft, whatever.

on saturday night, while resting from spewing chunks the day before, i watched 'match point' which i bought last week. i was really stoked to see this movie, but was VERY disappointed. i think woody allen should stick to acting in his films, instead of just directing them. oh man... it was horrid. i love jonathan rhys meyers but holyfuck... he was so obnoxious in this movie!

i'm becoming more addicted to myspace with every passing day. i have no idea why. i still think it's a retarded waste of time, but yet i can't seem to stop checking it! i became myspace friends with the guitar player from the dears (!!!). somehow he managed to stumble upon my page and requested an add. i'm trying to butter him up so i can get a backstage pass or something. hah. but in all seriousness.... the dears are heading over to the uk and the rest of europe later this week, so PLEASE go see them. they put on a really good show.

in other news...

today was a crazzzzzy day at work. i was literally running around doing 4 things at once. it was mental. according to the payroll that was done today, i did more hours than anyone else in the store in the last month... which might explain why i feel like death every weekend!

okay... onto the more exciting (?) news! the first episode of canada's worst driver season 2 just aired. oh.my.god. this show is sooo funny! watch it next monday at 10pm. it's ridiculous that these people even passed their driver's test.

speaking of bad driving....
i've decided to FINALLY take my learner's (yes, i've never taken it yet... ahem). i'm tired of taking the bus and/or relying on other people for rides! plus, it would be alot easier (i.e. FASTER!) to get to work. i'm planning on taking the written test in a months time. so from now until then, i'm going to be studying the ontario driver's handbook non-stop. honestly, i think i'd make a pretty decent driver... i wouldn't have a problem going on highways because i really like speeding (ask anyone who has let me drive their car haha)... BUT i do have issues with turning. which is a bit of problem i guess. i seriously can't comprehend it! i always over-steer.

if any of you guys have taken the written test in the last few years, give me any pointers you think i might need to know!!!

i just watched 'the boondock saints' for the first time (yeah i know... i'm a little behind on my movie watching). ohmygod. what an amazing film!!! willem dafoe was incredible.

this isnt much of an entry, but i just wanted to post about the film and how good it was!! my weekend was also pretty good... relaxing... which is exactly what i needed after a CRAAAAZY week at work. i spent most of it sleeping, going out for a bit, and spending way too much time on youtube. that site is seriously the best thing since sex. i found brass eye clips (very funny british satire), tons of music videos i'd never seen before (pulp, blur, bjork), and other random goodies. speaking of bjork... watch this ridiculously cute video of her talking about her tv....and her theories on dutch writers and icelandic poets who LIE!

and also... the scissor sisters are playing in town next tuesday (i think?)... since the lily allen gig is sold out, anyone wanna go?

edit: i just found this hilarious Blur Rock Profile clip on youtube! Rock Profile was a show that Matt & David did before Little Britain... and is a bit better I think. Anyway, watch this video!!! the alex james bit is hysterical!

(i swear thats the last time i'm gonna talk about youtube... at least for this week...)

i slept until 7pm today... but considering i worked a 12 hour shift yesterday, i think sleeping for that long is justified!

this week has been so ridiculously busy/stressful. several times throughout the week, i thought about applying to other pharmacies... just so i can work in a NORMAL environment without all the bullshit. having said that, there are alot of funny moments at this pharmacy... like this regular patient who comes in, came in yesterday... he points at me and shouts "AHHH! my favourite Calabrese!!!". i guess you had to be there, but it was really funny, cos he thinks that i'm calabrese... even though i don't look italian AT ALL.

speaking of italians... i really want to learn some conversational italian. mostly for work, because it's a bit of a downfall only speaking english in a predominatly italian pharmacy. it's a huge problem on the phone cos whenever patients call for a prescription renewal or whatever, they start going off in italian and i have to literally YELL "aspetta!" (wait) to get their attention.

-

here's a "fun" quiz! cos i'm bored... so entertain me with your answers...

1.Your Middle Name: Valerie (my aunt's name) and Sumire (my Japanese name)
2. Favorite Song: of all time?... "Enjoy the Silence" Depeche Mode. currently... "Yes" by McAlmont & Butler, "I Want You So Hard(Boy's Bad News)" The Eagles of Death Metal, "LDN" Lily Allen, "Everyday I Love You Less & Less" Kaiser Chiefs.
6. Tattoos and/or Piercings: 3 piercings in each ear, naval piercing, nose piercing (but it has pretty much grown over now). no tattoos.

HERE COMES THE FUN ... ... ...
1. Do we know each other outside of LJ?
2. Whats your philosophy on life?
3. Would you have my back in a fight?
4.
i was going to make another vblog tonight but then realized that i still have NO freakin clue how to make the audio less annoying and have it sync up. help??

my arm is in serious pain right now from being on the phone with marisa for 2 hours. i'm not a phone person i don't think... if you've ever tried calling me, you'll know this to be true. lol (i.e. i hardly ever answer my phone...). although i guess being on the phone for 2 hours is a bit of a contridiction...

so i saw viggo mortensen last tuesday at the film festival. oh. my. lord. i usually don't find blonde men attractive, but HOLYSMOKES. i'm all about the nordic men now! pictures to follow later this week....

what else?

um... i secretly love 'sexyback' from justin timberlake... yeah... i think working in woodbridge is having an effect on my music tastes... but dudes, seriously... the suit he's wearing in the music video is QUITE hot. if only all men could dress like that. one of the pharmacists i work with said the song sounds like what rave kids would listen to while high on ecstasy and then she proceeded to dance like she was posessed. i guess you had to be there.. haha. it was hilarious.

i also reallllly love 'when you were young' by the killers... i wasn't really digging the dirty, grungy look that brandon flowers is sporting these days, but who cares.... the song is KILLER! get it? killer? the killers? i should have my own standup night at yuk yuks. ;p yeah ... maybe i'll do a kareoke themed vblog .... if i ever figure out the fucking audio syncing issues!!!!!

one more song you should download is the scissor sisters' 'i don't feel like dancing'. it's very bee gees-esqe. love it.

and this just in....
i'm going to london 100% next spring or summer. finally!! and perhaps a trip to oxford and cambridge on a day trip or something...
yay!
it was either iceland or london. i chose london. am i crazy? probably.

    <lj:music>thom yorke - harrowdown hill</lj:music>

i hope everyone is having a good long weekend cos mine has been dreadfully boring! i met up with dan yesterday and we went for lunch, then did some shoppin' at hmv. i ended up buying some cd's... razorlight, boy kill boy, and the new thom yorke one (which is so amazingly beautiful. love. it.). also got the royal tennenbaums criterion dvd, trainspotting special edition, and coupling season 4. i used to think coupling was a pathetic excuse for a show, but i really like it now.

today i went to eaton centre (what a horrible idea, considering it was full of kids doing their back to school shopping..*shudders*) in search of finding a pair of lacoste sneakers. i wasn't very lucky. this is most likely going to sound ridiculous, but 5 years ago a friend of mine in vancouver had these lacoste shoes that she bought in france... ever since then i've been in love with lacoste and have NEVER found the right shoe. how fucking hard is it to find a nice pair in this city?! who's up to going to france with me?

anyway, the main purpose of this post was to complain about abercrombie & fitch... even though i was suckered into buying some shirts and a VERY cute sweater.. ahem. seriously though, what is the deal with the place REAKING of men's colonge? where is it coming from? and more importantly, why is the smell so overpowering?! i mean, i'm guessing it's an attempt to sell their line of colonge but dudes... ease up a little. it was like i was drowning in a swimming pool of Axe or Tag.

and on other shopping related news... i've finally given in and bought a motorolla razr to replace my nokia. and yes. i'm pretty impressed with the hotness factor of it.

(fucking hell, what a boring post eh? lol sorry about that...)

PS: I FOUND A COVER OF 'OH MY GOD' (ORIGINALLY BY THE KAISER CHIEFS) DONE BY LILY ALLEN!!!!!!! ITS SO GOOD... IF YOU WANT IT, EMAIL ME!

you can tell i'm over-worked and tired when...

i seriously consider buying a pair of victoria beckham jeans that i saw in yorkdale. the catch? they cost $300. for jeans. oy vey.

my justification for it is that a.) i do need new jeans b.) they make me look hawt and c.) they're purdy.

what has happened to my journal?! i've resorted to posting about overpriced clothing...wow... i need to go to bed. lol

so what has sabrina been up to lately? i've been working. alot. and that's about it. exciting huh?
i bought some dvd's last week... the beastie boys dvd 'awesome, i fuckin' shot that!' dvd which is pretty awesome. and i bought 'v for vendetta'. holychrist... i went to see this movie when it first came out, & i had goosebumps. good goosebumps... i loooove it. hugo weaving is really good in it, and natalie portman... well... she's adorable. ANNND... one of the special features has this saturday night live sketch that natalie did where she plays this hardcore hiphop chick.... it's hilarious.

i finally got a raise at work! thank freakin' god. i still think i deserve to get more, but i'm not going to push my luck...

work has been mental. in every way possible. people are such morons who come into pharmacies. a little info for you folks... i work in woodbridge... it's safe to say that most people in woodbridge are loaded with money.... they only carry hundred dollar bills and drive their bmw's and camaro's. im convinced that some of them work for the mafia lol. when they're not driving around like arrogant assholes, they come into the pharmacy that i work in, and proceed to tell me that they dont want to pay for their prescriptions. they are so fucking cheap!!! i mean... this one woman didnt want to pay $12!!!! and yeah another thing that pisses me off is how certain people whom i work with (actually, just one person in particular) always fucks up things and never takes the blame. i also find it amusing that this person keeps putting prescriptions through the computer, even though she never pays attention to what's on the screen... important info like uh... how much we're getting paid from the insurance company for each medication we bill to them. OKAY... enough complaining? okay. but in all seriousness... most of the italians in woodbridge are good people... so this isn't meant to sound like a 'i hate italians' rant. not much anyway... :)

actually... one more thing to complain about! it took me almost 3 hours to get home yesterday. there was a really bad accident at weston rd & hwy 7, so i was stuck on the bus for hours sitting in stand-still traffic. it was painful let me tell you.

anyway, good news is that after a busy day at work, i came home, checked the mail and got a parcel from my dad. he just got back from san francisco and it sounds like he had an amazing time. he went to the japanese area and bought me this wind-chime. i'm not really sure what the mirror is for on the bottom, but i love it anyway. he said the store that he bought it in had some really great stuff so if you're in san francisco check out the store! it's called... Asakichi, japan center, 1730 Geary Blvd.

i finally have saturday AND sunday off. i haven't had a whole weekend off in AGES!
have a good weekend everyone!
